National Standard-Setters: Preview of IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts
On Wednesday 17 May, there will be two live webinar presentations specifically tailored to update national standard-setters on the soon to be issued insurance contracts Standard—IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts.
The live webinars will provide an update of the forthcoming IFRS 17. The webinar is aimed at those with little, or no, prior knowledge of insurance accounting and/or the insurance project. We would like to extend this invitation to others in your organisation that may have an interest. For example, you may wish to invite Board members, implementation committee members, investor committee members and communication managers.
The webinar will:
a) outline the problem with insurance accounting today and why IFRS 17 has been developed;
b) provide a high-level summary of how IFRS 17 works;
c) explain the impact of IFRS 17 for investors; and
d) highlight expected changes for life insurers and for non-life insurers.
There will be an opportunity to submit questions on the material presented at any point during the webinars. If you wish to submit questions in advance please email Joanna Yeoh (jyeoh@ifrs.org). Please keep your questions short to allow us to answer as many as possible.
The presenters are Steve Cooper, International Accounting Standards Board member and Joanna Yeoh, Senior Technical Manager.
The live presentations will be held at 10.00am UK time and 4.00pm UK time on Wednesday 17 May.
Each session is expected to last for approximately 40-60 minutes, including Q&As.
